Native to arid areas of Bolivia, Cleistocactus strausii is commonly known as the silver torch cactus. Its columnar stems can reach around 3 metres tall, covered in masses of dense white hairs in between which thick yellow spines grow. Mature cacti produce long tubular flowers during the
