In a moment of nostalgia, I turned to Google on my phone and typed in Kretek clove cigarettes to see where I could buy the tantalizing Indonesian clove-infused tobacco, because once youre over fifty, you never know when youre going to get that diagnosis that will give you six months to live, and if I get that, you can bet that Im gonna smoke the shit out of all the good stuff, eat fatty foods, drink to excess, and do all of the things that will kill you because Ill be dying anyway
Knowing that some people arent lovers of peat, Ive effectively made this cocktail to be enjoyed with either a smokey, peated Islay Scotch whisky (I used Laphroig 10 here), or a mezcal with a smokey character (if you wish to pass on the peat I use Montelobos Espadin Mezcal here, but there are lots of other great mezcals with smoke)
